1. Sell Handmade Goods
Are you good at making things? Believe it or not, selling handmade goods can be a profitable business to get into. Finding things that are currently on trend is, however, key in turning a profit.
Finding what sells and what doesn’t will help you determine what sorts of things you want to spend your time creating and promoting. Things like pet accesories, beauty products, soaps, jewelry and fashion are all hot trends but they are all fairly broad categories. Narrowing down on what is expected to be on trend this year will help you find the right business to get into. You can find Etsy’s 2020 Trends for more ideas of what is predicted to be on trend in 2020.
Or, why not ask the Queen of Craftiness herself? You can check out Martha Stewart’s 2020 predictioins for what is on trend this year and get some ideas from her post Craft Trends to Watch for in 2020.

2. Teach something you are an expert in
Do you have a teachable skill that you could monetize? If you are good at something that someone else would pay to learn then you can make money teaching that skill. Maybe you are a great piano player, dancer, seamstress, cake maker, or perhaps you know a second language. You can make money on your own schedule by teaching those skills to others.
When I was first married I decided to teach piano to kids that lived locally. This was a great side job that allowed me to make a little bit of extra money and I was able to plan out the lesson times that worked with my schedule.
Not only can you teach in your local area, but there are several platforms online that you can sign up for and start making money with a much larger available audience. Platfroms like Udemy allow you to create your course material and connect with students. The sky is virtually the limit for what you can teach.
3. Write an eBook
You don’t have to be a best selling author to write and publish an ebook! Ebooks are more popular than ever and the best part is that once you are finished writing you can earn passive income from the sales.
Finding a topic to write about is probably the hardest part. You want to find a particular niche that people are interested in and willing to pay for. Are you an expert in a particular field that can help other people? Do you have a lot of hands on experience with something that would help your fellow readers? These are questions you should be considering before you dive in.
Writing an ebook may sound like a daunting task but with the right topic and strategy you could potentially make some good passive income. 4. Sell Baked Goods
Selling baked goods is a great way to generate some extra cash right from the comfort of your own home. When I was working full time I also had a small cupcake business that kept me pretty busy just by word of mouth! People love to buy homemade baked goods and are willing to pay for that luxury.
If you have a natural flair for baking then perhaps this is for you. I started with small farmers markets and craft fairs to get myself established. I also provided cupcakes for everything from weddings to bridal showers, birthdays and the like. It was a perfect business that I could manage while I worked full time.
Check out your local farmers markets and look into craft fairs that are coming up in your area. Create business cards and distribute them at these markets and fairs so that people have a means of contacting you in the future. Get your name out there! Places like Facebook are also great platforms to advertise your baked goods business.
